The best solution to heating your swimming pool water is by using either heater. But you do have to wonder, which one is the best option for your pool and what can you do to get the best results? Let’s find out gas heaters vs. electric heat pumps!
Having a heated pool allows you to use it even if it is cold outside. It also enables you to enjoy the benefits of a pool for many hours no matter the cooler weather outside. Heated pools are also excellent for treatment.
Gas Heaters:
Gas heaters have the ability to generate heat. They require the use of gas or propane to heat the pool water making them less ecological and less eco-friendly. But gas heaters are considered to be more efficient when you need to heat your pool in a short period compared to electrical heat pumps. Also, you can use the heaters regardless the temperatures outside.
Electric Heat Pumps:
Electric heat pumps do not generate heat like the gas heater. Instead, it uses the surrounding outside, warm air to heat the pool water. The benefit of electric heat pumps is that they are a lot easier to run and you do not have to use gas or propane. Heat pumps are more ecological and eco-friendlier. The problem with heat pumps is they do not work in temperatures below 50 degrees Fahrenheit.
Electric heat pumps cost more upfront but are less expensive to run because they use liquid refrigerant to heat your swimming pool water. Gas heaters have a lower cost upfront but since they require gas or propane to keep the water heated they will cost more in the long run. The good thing about gas heaters, though, is they can heat water quicker than electric heat pumps. You will not have to run your gas heater as long as the electric heat pump.
Don’t rush on purchasing gas heaters vs. electric heat pumps until you read their capabilities and instructions. Compare that to your location, heating demands, and budget then you will be able to make the right call.
